Join Austin, Patrick, Rob, and Cado as they re-enter and re-examine the world of Evangelion once again. What starts as something familiar begins to shift, has us asking why this work is revisited, what all the differences amount to, and where we think Evangelion might go from here.

Something that stuck with me about 2.0 was when Mari and Shinji had that conversation near the end after she crashed through the shelter; Shinji fills her in on why he’s there and that he doesn’t want to pilot anymore. Mari, fresh off of doing a bunch of cool robot shit, losing an arm and being nearly decapitated by an Angel, says something to the effect of “that’s weird, I didn’t know there were pilots who agonized about stuff like that,” which felt like… as big of a tonal shift as you can have in Eva?
Her presence (at least in 2.0) was the “wow cool robot” part of that Gundam meme.
I was really confused when this dropped in my feed but nice to see that the new EVA pods are now free to listen for non WP+ members! They’re very good dives in to the films and feels decompressing if you’re coming off of listening to content around End of Eva.
