Welcome to the Waypoint Forum’s discussion of E3 2019. This is the official thread for talk about the Devolver Digital press conference and the games discussed and announced during that press conference. It can also contain discussion of further coverage of those games or companies that appears in later days. We want to contain overlap and multiple threads so please contain all discussion of Devolver Digital to this thread.
Thank you.
This was a terrible conference and a terrible way to deliver the information on what titles they’re releasing. Fall Guys looked cute and Carrion looked interesting, but the fact that they keep trying to target their conference at #gamers in terms of content shown, as well as their conference gimmicks, are just embarrassing by this point. I feel bad for the developers they’re publishing for hitching their wagon to this cavalcade of clowns.
The sheer badness of the conference aside, Carrion looks really cool, and I’m stoked for the free expansion that The Messenger is getting. That game has such a good feel (and a real good soundtrack), and I’m looking forward to spending more time with it.
I feel like Devolver’s getting a little too into their own lore at this point. We got this whole narrative about Nina getting brainwashed or whatever but I much preferred just standing on a fake stage yelling about trends in the games industry and cutting to stock footage of audiences.
That aside, Fall Guys legitimately is a game that interests me. But I didn’t know that from the trailer. Had to look up that it was a 100 person obstacle course and not some kinda Lemmings-like.
One of the devs on Carrion has been posting stuff from the development of the game on their twitter for a couple years now. So if you’re interested in seeing the evolution of a gooey flesh monster and gore I’d recommend checking it out. https://twitter.com/kroskiewicz/status/910855443140005888
God the animation on the monster is unreal in this game, its taking some really cool physics-based stuff similar to what Rain World did and going absolutely buckwild with it. Can’t wait for this game.
