Self-Care Jam 2!

Hi everyone! From this weekend to the subsequent one, I’m running a game jam with a focus on creating something small solely for your own self-care and well being, with no pressure to make a big deal out of it. This is the second running of this jam, the first was even covered by waypoint! Here’s the blurb from the page that explains it more:

2017 is almost over. It’s been quite a stressful time for a lot of us, so let’s take a week to work on something tiny for our own sake. There’s no competition, no risk, and no pressure. You don’t have to do anything big or shiny, just take a moment to get the satisfaction of making something that won’t add undue stress on yourself.

You can make a game, write a poem, knit a sweater, draw a picture, compose a song, or do anything else that you would enjoy. It doesn’t need to be about the state of the world, or something that makes the people that play it feel happy. This is just for you.

I’m running the jam, but last year I also participated and it was comforting to have an excuse to make a thing without feeling the need to push my boundaries or make it New or Fun…it’s just nice to have made something. So maybe this could be good for you too? Here’s a link to the jam:

Take care of yourselves :sparkles:

This is a lovely idea, and I’ll try and come up with something for the sake of making something, as per the spirit of the Jam

Rad! I loved the first one, looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

Sure I’ll put off my current gamedev project to do another jam lol.
This seems like a good thing, actually.

This sounds like fun. I’ve got a current project I’ve been taking way too long to complete (I’ll blame my 5 month old baby for that) so a quick little thing might be just what I need to get certain juices flowing again

Well, finished my… thing and submitted.

Its more of an interactive toy than a game, but I used this as an excuse to dabble in things I usually don’t dabble in (pixelart and audio)

I made a cup of tea. It was a nice exercise, and I like how it turned out.
